John Chester Green “Pop”, 79, most recently residing in Floral, Arkansas, joined his Lord and Savior on August 3, 2023.
John was born on September 13, 1943, in Montebello, California, to Chester Le Roy Green and Edith Elizabeth Baker. It was in California that he met and married the love of his life “Kitty”. They married and together left a legacy of a family name that will live on for many generations to come.
They had five children: Angela “Angie” (Mike) Marchant, Lesa Gibbs, John Carl (Diane) Green, James “Jimmy” (Nina) Green and Tanya (Edwin “Eddie”) Spease. They had 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with two more great grandchildren on the way and one sister, Rose Hamilton.
John was a proud military veteran who had joined the Navy and served on the USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. After serving honorably in the Navy, John became a welder by trade. He loved his family, raising and training hunting hounds, raising gamebirds, and horses.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn “Kitty” Hislip; his great grandson, baby Jacob and his granddaughter, Cassidy Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM at Doty Southside Funeral Service Chapel in Southside with Bro. Bill Cline officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Fowler Cemetery in Adona, Arkansas, beginning at 2:45 PM.
