Jonathan Fred O'Dell, better known as “Johnny O”, left this world on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born on March 10, 1963, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Fred and Clara Faye Smith O'Dell.
His work family included students and faculty of the Midland School District where he worked in maintenance and drove a school bus for several years. Johnny O loved to make friends, never knew a stranger, and would carry on a conversation with most anyone. He was a good friend and will be missed.
HIs passion was playing his guitar and he might have thought of himself as a "rock and roll star". He loved the outdoors, walking, and working out . As a family man, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter, eating at his brother's house, and aggravating his niece, Makenna.
He will be forever remembered by his daughter, Kiernan O'Dell, of Concord; his brother, Joseph O'Dell, of Pleasant Plains; sister, Julie Wilbur, of Lakewood, Colorado; nephew, Nick Wilbur, of Denver, Colorado and his nieces, Makenna O'Dell, of Pleasant Plains and Emily Wilbur, of Asheville, North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service with Bro. Ched Carpenter officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hampton, Scott Jones, Zack Jones, Ryder Goetzman, Shane Martin, and Michael Pruitt.
Burial will be in Putman Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doty Southside Funeral Service to assist with funeral expenses.
