Jonathan Daniel Scarbrough Sr. departed this earthly realm on January 23, 2025. He was born on January 25, 1949, in Alturas, California, to Vearl and Pearl Scarbrough.
Jonathan graduated high school in Dunsmuir, California. After high school he worked for the railroad for a period of time following his father and brother in that profession. A few years later he joined and served honorably in the United States Army. Jonathan served his country for twenty years and one day retiring in September 1992.
While in the military he met and married Kim Marie Foss on June 25th, 1977, at Fort Knox. Together they two had two sons which became a family of six.
He enjoyed playing cards in his free time. Pinochle was his favorite along with scrabble. He enjoyed his miniature train sets that on occasion he would play with his grandchildren. Jonathan enjoying going out to eat especially at Cracker Barrel.
He is survived by his wife Kim Scarbrough; and sons, Joseph Daniel Scarbrough, and wife, Silvia, Timothy James Scarbrough, and wife, Tammy, William Scarbrough, Jonathan Daniel Scarbrough, and his wife, Elise; his brother, LeRoy Scarbrough, and wife, Joyce, and sister, Joyce (Reed) Scarbrough; his niece, Marlette Noel; great nephews, Joel Scarbrough, and Malaky Scarbrough; a great niece, Mikayla Scarbrough; and many friends.
He was blessed with three grandchildren: Justin Scarbrough, Jack Scarbrough, and Lizzy Scarbrough.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Vearline James Scarbrough, and wife, Katherine Joy; and sister, Loretta Scarbrough Reynaud, of California.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, February 7, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 2291 White Drive in Batesville, with Bro. Howell.
A Zoom Meeting will be available for those unable to attend.
