Sandra Jean Colburn

Sandra Jean Steele Colburn, 89, formerly of Sidney, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Burleson, Texas. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on April 16, 1935, to Fred Merkel, Jr. and Dorothy Blanton Bailey.

Sandra was involved with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and she retired from White Rogers in Batesville.  

She loved to crochet, fish, hunt, play bingo, and garden with her husband, Edgar.  Her favorite song was Amazing Grace and she could play “The Entertainer” as if she were a professional pianist. She will be remembered as someone who loved with all her heart and was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She will be greatly missed!

Left to cherish her memory is her sons, Keith Steele and Merkel Steele; her daughters, Malinna Painter, Barbara Nieland, and Stacy Merrill; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a brother, M. A. Bailey. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar Colburn, and a sister, Dorothy Fink.

A Memorial Service will be Friday, November 29, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service.
